Gender Role Orientation includes five items that capture the degree to which individuals hold egalitarian views about women's roles in society, including in the workforce and at home.

Items:

1. A woman’s place is in the home, not the office or shop.
2. A wife with a family has no time for outside employment.
3. Employment of wives leads to more juvenile delinquency.
4. It is much better if the man is the achiever outside the home and the woman takes care of the home and family.
5. Women are much happier if they stay home and take care of children.

Scoring Procedures

High scores on the gender role orientation scale indicate traditional gender perspectives and low scores indicate egalitarian gender perspectives.
